Only an hour from the hustle and bustle of Central London, upon entering, this property immediately transports the visitor into a serene and rural world.
In the 1970s, the large walled garden was planted and divided into various sections with no real purpose or common thread. Our aim was to restore the gentle country feel of the walled garden, and its generous scale, so that family and friends could enjoy it.
We removed many elements that were smothering the walled garden, including large hedges of Leylandii and other conifers, to focus our view on three ancient apple trees, which helped redefine and enhance the orchard. A swimming pool and sun deck was discreetly installed behind the apple trees.
We built a new Yorkstone terrace, which offers versatile areas for dining, barbecue or sitting by the fire, and seamlessly connects the house to the rest of the garden.
Careful planting of different layers of bulbs, topiary, perennials, roses and shrubs have produced an enchanting balance of flowers, shapes and scented plants, that bloom seasonally throughout the year.
